What is Tech Week???

Many of you might be thinking, so what’s so special about tech week, its just rehearsal at Camplex.   All that changes is we go to a new building, so why all the fuss.  Well my dear reader, let me fill you in.  First, rehearsal is all about you.  Where you go, what you do, what you say, how your character feels, in other words its when you learn what you are supposed to do.  While the bulk of the time is spent preparing you because the show will live or die depending on you knowing your job.  During tech week we add….

 This to the stage

Plus

 You’ll wear something like this

plus

You might put one of these on

plus

Your face will be covered in this

Or

 Your face will have this

Plus

Lights, props, set pieces flying in and out, and a slew of other things.  Tech week really isn’t for you at all.  Tech week is for Miles to set and run lights (we are talking 200 different light changes), Kari to work with her crew to move sets and props on and off stage, Brigette’s crew to do hair and make-up, Tyler to figure out sound, and for all the other element to meet you.

During tech week here is what you can expect.  Ms.Hofer isn’t in charge any more (really).  Miles is in charge, so if he tells you to do something, you do it immediately, no matter what.  You can expect to spend time getting into costumes, running the show.  There might be some serious hurry up and wait.  In other words, you will be silent back stage for long stretches of time, but when we need you to be somewhere, put some hustle into it and get there.

This week it would be great if we can always have you like this

And less like this

(unless you are backstage and waiting, in which case chilling by yourself silently is awesome)

See we’d like to stay sane.  If folks choose not to do as we’ve asked we’ll look like this all week

and no one like mean people, so help us out and we will all have a great tech week.

News for Parents (kids share this please)

Lst night the production team met like we do every Wednesday night.  Generally we comment on how awesome our cast is, how things are moving along amazingly well.  Last night we did all of that, plus some minor freaking out.  You see we have a mere two weeks left before we move this whole show over to Camplex for tech week.  Yikes!  Time is starting to tick down.  The exitment is starting to build and that is wonderful.  There are few details we should share with our extremly wonderful parents.  First, this year we would like to offer parents the opportunity to be prideful.  You can put a photo of your cast/crew member and a break a leg message in the program.  Also, we are selling ad space in the program so if you, or a buisness you know would like an ad in the program the information is below.

The other item is the build days.  If you like to swing a hammer, run a saw, use a cordless drill, roll paint, dab a paintbrush we could really, really, really use your help.  The days when for sure people will be working in the shop are  February 18-18 (Saturday and Sunday) and the 24th and 25th (Friday and Saturday).  Take a peek at the post below for contact info.

Calling All Parents!

We have a BEAST’S CASTLE that needs to be built (plus some other critical set pieces) & our Set Designer Mark McClintock has only 6 work days in which to do this.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!

If you can help in any way possible please call or Email Mark at 307.660.1758/Email: fourkidz@vcn.com   I would greatly appreciate your help so that our kids can have a castle to walk on!  Mark has been putting in astronomical volunteer hours on this project, but cannot do it alone.  Any amount of time or energy is greatly appreciated.

THANKS SO MUCH,

Miss Hofer
